My Rating System Explained

I figured I should probably put up a post about my ratings and how I go about them. So as not to confuse you when you are reading them.

I have four area's that I rate. Each area is rated from 0 (Utter Crap) to 25 (I want to make marriage to it legal). The area's aren't all inclusive though. There is a bit of overlap to them. I think they are all pretty self explanatory but then again I've been wrong about that before.

The first area I rate is
Presentation: This is the Audio and Visual part of the game. How good does the game look? Does the art style match up with the rest of the game or does it fall flat after awhile? Secondly, I rate
Story: Does the game have a story? And if so, how good is said story? The third area is
Gameplay: Do the controls handle well? Is it nice and responsive in combat? Are the puzzles tougher because of goofy controls? These are all taken into account here. and lastly
Overall: How do all the prior elements combine? Is the total package more than the sum of it's parts?
These combine to give my final score for the game.
After I rate the game I also give you what I think is a fair price point to pick the game up at. It could be the greatest game in the world but if you can beat it in a couple of hours then you really shouldn't pay $60 for it.
Not an exhaustive system to be sure, but I think it hits the key points. I have and will probably continue revising it as I go. I'll post changes to it as I make them if I do change anything.

Welcome to The Poor Gamers Almanac

Welcome all to my reviews blog. This is where I'll be posting my thoughts and reviews on everything gamer related. From video games to movies, accessories and more. Updates will be twice weekly to begin and we'll go from there.
I think people will like my reviews because I actually play a game to completion before I review it, and in the extreme case that I don't I will actually tell you if that happens. Unlike some of these paid reviewers who will play through the tutorial or demo of a game and review the whole game based off of that. I also give you my opinion on whether or not the game is worth the price it's selling for and I'll give you a price point that I think is fair to pick it up at.
So Welcome to The Poor Gamers Almanac! , I hope you guys enjoy the ride.
